Medicinal flowers fuel Fleur de Santé skin care.
May 8, 2017
By: Melissa Meisel
One can up the ante in formulating personal care products with a little inspiration. Just ask Mathias Tonnesson, chief executive officer of burgeoning brand Fleur de Santé, which translates to “flower of health” in English. Based in Stockholm, Sweden with offices in New York and Paris, the company’s current success stems from the founder’s muse. “I wanted to make skin care that my wife, Johanna, would love, so Fleur de Santé is really a love letter to her and every detail had to be perfect,” he said. Fleur de Santé was founded in 1980, with the distinction of being the only brand in the world to utilize Swedish and French medicinal flowers in its beneficial formulations, according to the CEO. Tonnesson’s passion to create 95% natural skin care with “every detail considered” sees the latest clinically proven collections containing antioxidant-rich champagne extract, plant stem cells (dubbed Phyto-StemCells) and airless packaging that makes every formulation more effective, he told Happi. Products span from the Sublime Global Anti-Aging Nourishing Night Cream, an anti-aging night cream with the actives of trifolium lavandula extract, champagne extract and a plant stem cell Infusion, to the “thick yet silky” Cellular Global Anti-Aging Concentrated Serum with magnolia filipendula extract. “I knew that I could create something unique with Fleur de Santé, because my inspiration came from a place that was unlike any other,” Tonnesson added. “Our formulations are created by choosing from over 150 species of flowers – the most exemplary for targeting specific skin concerns, and then we boost their potency. By using Phyto-StemCells, potent antioxidants and extracts, we take something inherently beneficial and enrich it. I don't know of any other brand that does this in the same way.” Fleur de Santé have been studying and exploiting the power of medicinal flowers to renew and reinvigorate skin. The company’s future plans revolve around this unique beauty research beloved by cosmetic formulators in general. Tonnesson said the skin care line has been enhanced by “the ultimate antioxidant force of Phyto-StemCell paired with the exclusive Extrait de Champagne or rare Arctic Rose which both reinforce skin’s natural ability to repair itself and ensure photo-age prevention on the cellular level.” More info: www.fleurdesante.com
